Dimapur | January 10
As a two-day long peaceful march against AFSPA and armed violence started out from Dimapur to Kohima on January 10, in another part, sounds of gunfire reverberated along the erstwhile and unresolved Dimapur-Peren district border.
As per official sources, there were three instances of firing in the afternoon around disputed land. The first was reported around 2:00 pm followed by two more, the sources said, while adding that the weapons were likely 12 bore and .22 calibre guns shot in the air suspected to have been to display might.
There was no report of any casualty with the sources stating that police forces have been deployed at the site and that the situation was under control.
