First inter-school spelling bee competition in Pungro

Pungro, August 27 (MExN): Pungro Town Students’ Union (PTSU) conducted its first ever inter-school spelling bee competition on August 26 at Cultural Hall, Pungro Town under the theme, ‘The thinker builder.’  

Alen A Yimchunger, President, PTSU welcomed the gathering and enlightened on the importance of conducting such events.  

Longre Chang, Eastern Nagaland College Students' Union president, spoke on the evolution of the spelling bee competition. He also stressed on the importance of conducting such events, with the notion that only through these exposure to outer world, will the students shed off the 'backward' tag, stated a press release from Dolun C, Literary Secretary and Alen A Yimchunger, President of PTSU.  

The winner of the spelling bee competition, Aselen, class 10 student of LFS, on correctly spelling the word 'Verisimilitude' edged over the runner up Thelemcha, GHSS Pungro (class 10). Kiulongla, LFS (class 10) emerged as the winner in extempore speech competition, while Tali. T, GHSS (class 10) bagged the second prize. Participants from Christian School Pungro, Tsushila (class IX) and Kiushila (class IX) walked away as winners in quiz, and participants from Little Flower School Pungro, Hanlula (class X) and Ramtsula Rachael (class X) bagged the second prize.  

Sanglen Theresa, Lenpithong Kurian, and Pensokiu were the judges for the extempore speech.
