Lotha Eloe Hoho in partnership with the Department of Women Resource Development today started the Lotha Women Summit with the theme ‘towards pledge for parity’ at the Tiyi hall Wokha.
In the introductory address, Nzanthung Yanthan former president Lotha Students’ Union and Women Development officer Wokha expressed the joy in the participation of the Lotha women from various parts of Nagaland, he said it was during the Chief Minister ship of Neiphiu Rio that the Women Resource Development department was initiated and established with an aim to promote women their activities and the resources that are inherent in them.
Robin A Lotha, Deputy Commissioner Wokha delivered a special greeting message to the gathering citing the women’s theme of the United Nations Organization’s for 2016 ‘Pledge for Parity’. He added that women are not just to be home makers or only for other domestic activities, the international community has started several initiatives for the welfare of women.
Mhao Lotha, Chairman Lotha Hoho said that women today indispensible for society building. Amos Odyuo, President Lotha Students’ Union said, “Lotha women should be bold and be even socially active, even in our neighboring state Assam, Merapani the minister for PWD is a lady.” R. Nchumbemo Ezung, President Lotha Youth Hoho said that the reason why women are successful is solely because of the guidance of good mothers at home but the society cannot be alive enough by being excellent in their studies, women should also be equally active in social activities’.
Various speakers on topics such as ‘Livelihood intervention skill and resource development, Women in primary sectors (Floriculture, integrated farming etc) and interactive session with young Lotha women took part.
Senka Kikon a prominent singer from Wokha also presented a special number enthralling the audience and bringing more life to the gathering. Mhabeni Shitiri, General Secretary Lotha Eloe Hoho chaired and Khonpemo P Kikon Associate of the Wokha Town Baptist Church prayed for the meeting, welcome address was delivered by Lovungi Vice President Lotha Eloe Hoho. Dr. T. M Lotha Advisor and his wife Mhalo T.M also attended the meeting.
The first day sessions were moderated by Mary N Odyuo Assistant professor SASRD and Thungdemo Kyong, President Team Metamorphosis. Second day programme will start at 9:00 am and will be graced by P.B Acharya, Governor of Nagaland & Assam as the chief guest.
