The first Patkai Alumni Badminton Championship 2025 commenced at the Dr H. Ibotombi Singh Indoor Stadium, Patkai Christian College (PCC) on May 9.

PATKAI, MAY 9 (MExN): The inaugural Patkai Alumni Badminton Championship 2025, organised by the Patkai Badminton Club, commenced at the Dr H. Ibotombi Singh Indoor Stadium, Patkai Christian College (PCC) on May 9.
Held under the theme “More than a game,” 16 participating teams will be competing for the title.
Founder Principal Emeritus, Rev Dr Tuisem A Shishak, attended the event as special guest. Addressing the gathering, he expressed pride in the alumni and underscored the significance of the indoor stadium as a symbol of unity, growth, and progress for the Patkai community.
Drawing parallels with universities like Cambridge, Harvard, and Stanford, Rev Dr Shishak remarked that such institutions continue to thrive because of their alumni. Emphasising the inseparability of morality and Christian faith, he urged the alumni to live out their faith in everyday life. Quoting an American saying, “When money talks, people listen,” he encouraged the audience to value integrity over material gain and to lead lives defined by action rather than words.
He also extended gratitude to the alumni, stating that their support enabled the institution’s continued progress.
Dr Thepfuvilie Pieru, Principal of PCC, officially inaugurated the championship.
Earlier, Somingam Shimray, President of the Patkai Badminton Club, delivered the welcome address, and the opening prayer was pronounced by Avono Iralu, Assistant Professor, Department of Biblical Studies, PCC.
