Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): In an effort to create awareness among women folk that not just men, but even women can take up fish culture for income generation, Department of Fisheries, Training and extension wing, conducted a workshop on “Fish Pond Management” at Niuland Town on April 23.
The training included both technical and practical sessions followed by interactive sessions with all 35 women trainees from different Self Help Groups. Topics like aquaculture practices, composite fish culture, and pond management were discussed extensively. The trainees also learnt the skills of applying lime in the correct dose, preparing feed in the right ratio, and checking water parameters in order to maintain a healthy pond. Resource persons at the training were Neitho-o-Kuotsu, Assistant Director of Fisheries along with other technical staffs from Dimapur.
