Longleng, July 30 (MExN): Food safety officials in Longleng led by District Food Safety Officer Nitile Tep CMO office, with the help of the District Adminstration led by EAC Vitoka Yepthomi, police personnels, Dobashis, Phom Student’s Conference and Longleng Chamber of Commerce conducted food safety inspection in the district headquarter on July 30.
Dr Kongyan Phom, Chief Medical Officer, Longleng in a press release stated that the inspection team sensitised the Food Business Operators about the importance of proper packaging and labelling of food items as they not only increase the promotion of the product but it also provides information to the customers where it helps them to make informed choices for their health. Expired goods and items were seized from various Food Business Operators and later disposed in the presence of EAC and other officials.
The inspection was conducted whether the food facilities comply with hygienic standard. Food Safety Officer warned that similar inspection would be carried out from time to time.
