Football tournament underway in Noklak

Noklak, January 5 (MExN): Nagaland Football Association, Vice President, Colo Mero inaugurated a football tournament at public ground, Noklak Hq under the theme, ‘Invigorating the talent’ on January 5. 

Speaking on the occasion, Colo Mero stated that in order to become a good sportsman, proper training should start from a young age. He mentioned that initiatives should start from the grass roots level on the importance of games and sports, organising sports activities in schools and villages so that many sportsmen would come up from the district. Encouraging the players, he also advised them to be disciplined in all areas.

Khiamniungan Sports Council President, Er Elo Khiamniungan also spoke during the occasion. Welcome address was delivered by Games and Sports Secretary, Khiamniungan Students Union Sheying.

Indian Red Cross Society Noklak District Branch set up a stall for awareness of COVID-19 and distributed face masks and soap to participating teams. Altogether, 19 teams are participating in the tournament organised by Khiamniungan Students Union in collaboration with Khiamniungan Sports Council.

The football tournament will be culminating on January 14.
