Kohima, July 20 (MExN): The Director of Eden Garden, Khuzama and pioneer among Catholic faith missionaries in Kidima village, Reverend Father Raymond D'Souza SJ blessed the new Catholic church building foundation in Kidima on July 18.
A press release informed that Father Raymond D'Souza expressed gratitude to the community members for building a second Catholic church in Kidima. The first Catholic church in the village was built in 1992. The new building, Father Raymond said, was started because of the enthusiasm of the people through encouragement of the Parish Priest.
He further recollected that Jesuits missionary to Nagaland was through Father Claud D'Souza SJ and Father J.C. Peira SJ who came as pilot in December 1969 from Karnataka. He landed in Nagaland with fellow members on April 21, 1970 and sowed Catholic faith in the same year in Kidima, it was added.
Father Raymond also offered intersection of Mother Mary and Saint Francis Xavier (the patron of the church) and all the saints for the new church construction.
The Parish Priest of Kidima, Father Thomas Muttathil speaking on the occasion expressed his joy stating that the new church building foundation is a sign of growth and unity amongst the community.
Earlier, the Parish Priest Thomas Muttathil invoked God's blessing and Father Raymond D'Souza put sacred materials in the foundation. Village leaders, faithful people, FSMA Sisters along with school children attended the programme.
