Dimapur team after qualifying for the finals in the ongoing 1st G Rio Memorial inter-district Tournament for U-19 boys on January 20.
Dimapur, January 20 (MExN): Dimapur secured their third win in the ongoing 1st G Rio Memorial inter-district Tournament for U-19 boys on January 20 and qualified for the Finals.
On Day 3 of the tournament, Dimapur defeated Kohima by 9 wickets.
Kohima elected to bat after winning the toss.
Zayie Kikhi and Daghachu Thupithor scored 17 and 15 runs each, as Kohima amassed a total of 81 runs for 9 wickets in 22 overs.
Keduowhetuo took 3 wickets while Renben N Odyuo took 2 wickets for Dimapur.
With a loss of one wicket, Dimapur chased the target in 8.2 overs and won the match by 9 wickets.
This was the third win for Dimapur in the tournament which saw them top the Group-A point table and qualify for the Finals.
Earlier, in the first match, Mokokchung won the toss and elected to bat. Nripen Rai (108 runs) and Mughavi (100 runs) of the Mokokchung team were the first ones to score a century in the tournament according to a press release from Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary NCA.
With a solid partnership, the Mokokchung team scored 216 runs without losing a single wicket in 22 overs.
Tuensang put up an unsuccessful target chase, managing to score 108 for the loss of 9 wickets in 22 overs.
With Purtongzuk taking 3 wickets and Neizekho and Temsulong taking 2 each, Mokokchung won by the match by 108 runs.
The Group B league matches will start from January 22 onwards. Peren, Wokha, Zunheboto and Mon are in the Group B and the winner of the group will play against Dimapur in the Final match which is scheduled on January 26.
