Kohima, October 1 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has conveyed warm greetings to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He expressed hope that the occasion will guide all towards Gandhi’s path of truth, non-violence and cleanliness. He also hoped that it will stir up people’s conscience towards universal peace, global unity, true compassion and cleanliness.
In his message, the Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life towards freedom of the country and strengthening communal harmony. “His ideals and values have universal application and eternal validity. His faith in the efficacy of ‘Ahimsa’ as an agent for peaceful change will remain enshrined for many epochs to come. At the same time, he also advocated for cleanliness and good habits,” he added.
Reminding that in pursuance of Gandhi’s ideas, Government of India has launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, he appealed to the people of the State to actively involve themselves in cleanliness drive.
“On this momentous day, let us once again remind ourselves of Gandhiji’s ideals and pledge to work for ‘Swachh Bharat’ so as to create a new India,” the Governor added.
