GB Union East Dimapur clarifies to DVC

Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): The GB Union (GBU) East Dimapur clarified that the union had convened an emergency meeting on November 17 and with the consent of the majority present at the said meeting, a memorandum was submitted to Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland.

It was “widely published in all local dailies” on November 16 and as such the question of unawareness of Darogapathar Village Council about the meeting does not arise, stated the Union in a clarification to Darogapathar Village Council (DVC)

The DVC in a press release on January 3 had expressed its strong objection to what it termed as misrepresentation of its nomenclature by the GBU East Dimapur without its knowledge and the Village has always been under the umbrella of GB Union, Chümoukedima Circle.

Meanwhile, in is clarification, the GBU East Dimapur the allegation of the deliberate “misuse” of nomenclature is “erroneous and unwarranted as Darogapathar village “has always been integral part of East Dimapur GBs Union” when it was formed on May 19, 2012 at  at Purana Bazar, Village Council Hall.

It was formed with the with the consent and participation of all 22 federating villages which includes Darogapathar village with representation of  Bhoben Sangma Head GB and Shikheto Murru GB, it said, further pointing out that the village paid a  paid registration fees amounting to Rs 5000 on December 18, 2013, it said.

As such the question of deliberate use misuse of the village nomenclature or the village has never been part of the GBU East Dimapur does not arise, it added.

The main purpose off 22 villages coming to form GBU East Dimapur was to appraise the Government of Nagaland for the formation of EAC administrative Head Quarter and this Union was formed even before Chumukedima GBs Union came into being, it maintained.

Further, the Union also expressed its view that Darogapathar is not a hereditary village of particular clan, tribes or Clan or community and the Village Council Chairmanship or GBs is subject to change from time to time.

“As such the office of the village Council ought to give the due regard to their predecessors and take into account the good deeds or decision taken in the interest of the village if not it will amount to utter disregard and malign the image of their predecessors which will set bad precedents for the days to come,” stated the clarification issued by GB Union East Dimapur President Niuto Awomi and General Secretary Pitu Mech.
