Pughoboto, April 6 (DIPR): Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture, DB&GB, Kejong Chang, who was the chief guest at the annual general conference of Sumi Aphyuyemi GB’s Association, Pughoboto, urged upon the GBs to discharge their duties diligently. The conference was held at Town Hall, Pughoboto, on April 6.
Kejong stated that all good or bad things begin from the village level; therefore, he reminded the association members to shoulder their responsibilities properly and guide the people in a correct way and maintain the label of their Red shawls which signifies respect since British rule.
The Parliamentary Secretary, who has vast experience in the field of preserving and practicing Naga customary law, apprised the GBs and DBs that migration of Sumi people started from Pughoboto and hence urged them to maintain and preserve such history. He also sought co-operation for the Minister of R&B, Y Vikheho in order to bring more development in the area.
Minister for R&B, who was the guest of honour, expressed happiness for organising such programme after a lapse of 3 to 4 years and hoped that this would bring unison amongst the GBs and play vital role for solving problems in the near future. He informed that after the central election in 2014, a special category fund from Planning Commission under NITI Aayog which was given to eleven states including Nagaland has been banned; that is why now it takes time to implement more developmental activities. In this light, he called upon the people to understand the government’s position and take active part to generate more revenue for their livelihood in order to survive.
