Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) on Thursday reiterated that it would not allow the new pre-paid electricity billing system till the power department conducts appropriate sensitising and advocacy programmes so as to make the consumers understand the pros and cons of the billing system.
Referring to a resolution it had adopted in earlier in February and the subsequent statements published in the local newspapers, the union reiterated that the there is lack of adequate information on the pre-paid electricity meters that are to be installed in all the colonies, the billing system and its advantages. The citizens from different colonies are apprehensive on the billing pattern which seems to have discrepancy, it added.
In this connection, it said that until the power department initiates proper sensitisation and advocacy programmes in all the colonies, the GBUD shall not cooperate with the installation idea since it is against the interest of the common people.
Till such time the GBUD reiterate its stand on the previous decision adopted for the welfare of the citizens, it asserted.
