The second edition of the inter ward beat contest, a yearly event organized by Temelunger Telok, will be held on December 22 at Town Hall here with the theme ‘Beating out Loud’.
The event was scheduled to be held on December 19, but due to some unavoidable programmes of the district administration with regard to Election Commission of India (ECI), it has been postponed to December 22.
Started last year, the beat contest was a huge success and this year too eight bands from the 18 wards in Mokokchung are gearing up for the contest.
The contest awards the winners, which includes the winner and runner up and four individuals, with cash and certificates.
The beat contest will also feature guest bands including The Great Decade, Mokokchung Tunes and Imlichila. The ticket for the show is priced at Rs. 100 and the gates will open at 4:00 pm.
Temelunger Telok is a group made up of dynamic youths from Mokokchung and was formed with an aim of promoting music and talent in the town.
“Mokokchung town is vested with lots of music talents, but there are not much platforms where the young people can showcase their talents. That is why the Temelunger Telok was formed and we wish to continue organizing this contest,” said Mulongchet, the assistant secretary of the group.
Impochang, the convenor of the event also added that the contest will help revive the rock spirit and strengthen the bond between the youths of different wards.
