Dimapur, January 16 (MExN): “Chief of army, “NSCN (K) “General” Kholi Konyak has appealed to all peace loving Nagas to support the ongoing Naga “unification” pointing out that this has given a glimmer of hope to finally restore peace and harmony in our land. “This opportunity should be utilized as the stepping stone for virtual unification of all the Nagas regardless of arbitrary physical boundaries. Every peace loving Naga should therefore support the process with sincerity and dedication”, “Gen.” Kholi stated in a press note received here.
Kholi also urged that it was the bounded duty of every Naga civil organizations, tribal bodies, intellectuals, scholars, church leaders and Naga public in general to take rein of the Naga struggle. In this regard, “Gen” Kholi pointed out that “at this decisive juncture of our political career, the stake is high and the issues too sensitive to be left alone to Naga underground groups”. “Rather it is the responsibility of every Naga irrespective of color, creed, status, affiliations or ideologies to involve, mould and shape and lead the movement in the right direction”, Kholi urged.
Stating that reconciliation and unification of Nagas is not only a political prerogative but it was the “humanistic obligation of every concern Naga to stop blood letting among the Nagas and to pave way for ultimate fulfillment of the Nagas aspiration”.
Gen Kholi expressed pain while reflecting on the last fifty four years of his service in the duty of the nation, “where most of the Naga national leaders were drunk with one’s own interest and pride”. “The self-centeredness of the leaders has not only caused irreparable damage to the Naga cause but has sharply divided the Nagas into various segments resulting in enormous bloodshed and killings”, Gen Kholi stated.
