General Observers for districts arrive in Nagaland

Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): The Election Commission of India has deputed P Ramesh as the General Observer (GO) for Dimapur district and Jitendra Kumar Singh for Chümoukedima district for overseeing the entire electioneering process. 

The State DIPR informed on Monday that the general public of Dimapur district can contact the GO on his mobile number: 9491067970 while the public of Chümoukedima district can contact the GO on his mobile number: 8837272249 for any grievances. Both the observers are putting up at the Police officers mess at Chümoukedima, it added.

Another release from the DIPR informed that the GO for 8 Western Angami A/C, 14 Southern Angami -I A/C and 15 Southern Angami - II A/C, Janak Prasad Pathak arrived in Kohima district on February 6.

On his arrival to the district, DC & DEO Kohima, Shanavas C briefed him on the preparedness status of the election process for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election 2023.

Later, the General Observer visited the Office of the Returning Officer & SDO Jakhama where he had a discussion with RO and ERO Jakhama for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming election.

Dimapur, Chümoukedima: The Election Commission of India has deputed Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, as the Police Observer for Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts with regard to the forthcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections.

Any citizen who desires to file his nomination papers for contesting at the ensuing NLA elections, and is not in a position to do so, due to threat/ intimidation then he / she may contact the Police Observer on his mobile number: 9366897123, a DIPR report informed.

Satish Kumar who is putting up at the Police Officers Mess, Chümoukedima will be available to hear the public grievances with regard to any security issues or intimidation or unfair election practices from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm. Public can also contact him through phone call, WhatsApp or make their complaints through Cvigil App, it added.

Phek: All concerned officials and the public have been informed that S Suresh Kumar IAS (2009 batch), General Observer for 16- Pfutsero AC, 17-Chizami, and 18-Chozuba AC reached Phek district on February 6. He is currently stationed at Tourist Complex, Pfutsero Sub-Division. His official contact number is 98631-69832. 

Vijaykumar P Phad IAS (2012 batch), General Observer for 19-Phek AC and 20-Meluri AC reached Phek district on 6th February 2023 and is currently stationed at GA Guest House, Phek Hq. His official contact number is 98631-69832.

Meluri: DC & Deo Phek, Kumar Ramnikant IAS, has informed that Vijay Kumar P Phad, IAS (2012 batch), General Observer for 19-Phek AC and 20-Meluri has reached Phek HQ on February 6 and is currently stationed at GA Guest House, Phek Hq. where meeting hours for officials and public of Phek district has been fixed from 4:00PM to 5:00 PM daily. Pfutsero: S Suresh Kumar, IAS General Observer for 16 Pfutsero A/C, 17 Chizami A/C, and 18 Chozuba A/C arrived at Pfutsero on February 6 and was stationed at the Tourist Complex Pfutsero town. Chozuba: Election Observer S Suresh Kumar, IAS interacted with officials of General Election 2023, Nagaland for 18-Chozuba, Assembly Constituency at G/A Rest House on February 7.

A DIPR report stated that Suresh Kumar instructed the officials to be vigilant and attentive. In a democratic state like India, Election duty is a job for the government servants. Kumar instructed timely reports for the daily electioneering. He directed to maintain the video recording properly. Returning Officer informed that there was no violation of the model code of conduct of ECI to date. The Observer assured ECI of the officials' peaceful duty. Kumar told to the Returning Officer for public notice when the candidate has a criminal record.

The meeting was attended by different teams of the Election Model Code led by Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer, Imokokla. Later S Suresh Kumar visited the nomination file records in Returning Officer Office.

Wokha: General Observer & Police Observer for Wokha district to the ensuing 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election arrived at Wokha district headquarters on February 6.

For the fair, peaceful, and smooth conduct of the electioneering process, the dignitaries have reached the district headquarters, and on their arrival the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS) and Superintendent of Police Aotula T Imchen briefed the officials about the preparedness status undertaken for the smooth conduct of the election in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Wokha further informed that the General Observer and Police Observer can be contacted at the following contact numbers for any queries during working hours from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Office & District Election Officer Office, Wokha during working hours.

Jakhama: General Observer Janak Prasad Pathak IAS for 8-Western Angami, 14-Southern Angami I, and 15-Southern Angami II Assembly Constituencies visited on February 6 where he discussed with RO and ERO Jakhama for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming election.

Tseminyu: The General Observer for 12th AC, Tseminyu Kanwal Tanuj IAS arrived at Tseminyu District on February 7. On his arrival, DC & DEO, Tseminyu briefed the general observer about the preparedness status undertaken for the electioneering process in the District for the smooth conduct of the elections. Tseminyu District Assembly Constituency has five candidates nominated.

Mon: The Observers conducted a short meeting with the Election Officials Mon on February 7 at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall Mon. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma briefed the present scenario and updated on the preparedness status in Mon district for the forthcoming 14th Legislative Assembly Election. He also informed that different teams have been formed as per the ECI guidelines. Law and Order situation in the district was briefed by SP Mon.

The observers interacted with the election officials and reminded them of their roles and responsibilities to be more effective and dutiful for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Election.
