Get bridge over Dhansiri before summer sets in

Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): The Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) has appealed to the Nagaland State Urban Development Department (UDD) to expedite work on the bridge over Dhansiri River (Purana Bazar) before the summer sets in.

A press release from the DRFCB Chairperson, Hokheto Kiba, today appealed to the UDD to pay attention to the plight of 5,000-10,000 students and general public who cross the river through a narrow passage every day. “Several organizations including students’ bodies have appealed to the department concerned, but the department turned a deaf ear by neglecting the issue,” alleged the DRFCB.

The Board requested the UDD to give a reason why “the construction work has been suspended or stopped at the Dhansiri River?” It hoped for a reply at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the DRFCB made a request to the UDD to look into the construction of a suspension bridge over Dhansisir Bridge at Purana Bazar immediately in the interest of the public “before summer falls and wakes away the narrow passage,” cautioned the DRFCB.

Further, it requested the Dimapur district administration to take serious note of the matter before the public begins to face problems.
