GHS annual sports meet

KOHIMA, MARCH 27 (MExN): A three-day annual sports meet of Government High School (GHS), New Market began on March 27 at Assam Rifles ground in Kohima .

The sports meet kicked off with an invocation prayer by Peletuonuo while Ruokuobizo Nyusou , Chairman of New Market (Ser) Area Panchayat unfurled the GHS Flag and spoke on the occasion as chief guest .

Nyusou while declaring the sports meet open gave words of encouragement and exhorted the students and urged them to be mentally prepared and physically fit in order to become great sportspersons.

Before the games were commenced, a special number was presented by Noami; oath taking to the players was administered by Thinuoheii, PET; Vilanuo Yhome, the headmistress of the school proposed the vote of thanks while Lily Lorin chaired during the program .

Students also sang their school anthem entitled, "Shine GHS New Market" and contingents marched out the playfield  prior to the conduct of the games .

From Class - IV to Class X and further divided into four groups as Red House, Yellow House, Blue House and Green House are competing at the ongoing sports competition at Assam Rifles ground in Kohima .

Outdoor games like football and volleyball and athletic events such as 100 metre race, 200 metre race ,  discuss throw, shop put , high jump , long jump etc for both boys and girls will form part of the three-day school sports competition.
