The Government High School in Tamlu remains in a sorry state of affairs. Despite repeated appeals for intervention, the Nagaland government has remained unresponsive.

PSC cautions that the school building could collapse
LONGLENG, MAY 10 (MExN): The appalling condition of the Government High School in Tamlu has been a cause of extreme hardship for the faculty and students. With repeated calls for the government to take heed of the situation going unanswered, the Phom Students Conference has once again reiterated its concern.
A statement by the President of the PSC, Chaupong Leinak informed that the thatch/bamboo mat walls have all been damaged and that the building would “collapse” in case of any heavy storm. It added that the condition of the school poses “a threat to the lives of both the students and the teachers.” The PSC said that the pathetic condition of the school has restricted students from being attentive in the classrooms.
It was also informed that the PSC had on November 8, 2010 issued a letter to the Chief Minister requesting immediate intervention and allotment of funds for the construction of a new school building. Subsequent letters were also sent to the Mission Director, SMA/SSA on March 17, 2011 and to the Commissioner and Secretary, School Education and SCERT on June 17, 2011. However, the PSC lamented that the Nagaland state government has “failed to initiate any action.” It added that by doing so, it has risked the lives of the faculty and the students.
The PSC reposed faith that the new DAN III government will initiate “prompt and necessary” directives for the re-construction of GHS, Tamlu without delay. It appealed for the concerned authority to take up the matter “as a top priority.”
