Girl Child Legal Week under BBBP held in Phek

Girl child legal week programme under BBBP observed at Phek on September 7.
 

Phek, September 7 (MExN):  An awareness programme for Girl Child Legal Week under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was held today at Government Higher Secondary School Phek.

The programme was organized by District Administration and District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek in collaboration with Sakhi- One Stop Centre, Social Welfare Dept. and District Legal Services Authority Phek. Altogether, 450 participants joined the programme and the target group includes Adolescence Girls from classes 8-12 of government and private institutions.

T. Lemlila Sangtam, SDO (Civil) HQ, Phek delivered keynote address and highlighted the importance of girl child legal rights. She also stressed on various topics like, alarming declined in girl child sex ratio in Phek district according to 2001- 2011 census.

Role play on "Child Sexual Abuse" was presented by the students of GHSS Phek. Vevohulu Chuzho, Case Worker Sakhi-One stop Centre highlighted on different service available in OSC. Ketubu, DCPO Phek spoke on child protection services in the district. 

Kenienuo Swuro spoke on legal aspects on child rights and protection. She also stressed on important topics like importance of Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act and procedure of filing FIR.

Veposelu Naroh, District Coordinator DLCW, MSK Phek also spoke on the occasion while greeting was shared by Kedaye Thong principal, GHSS Phek. Vilenuo Kapu, Women Welfare Officer, DLCW MSK Phek chaired the programme.

The programme concluded with distribution of IEC materials.
