‘Give the best to get the best’

DIMAPUR, DEC 15 (MExN): The 5-day long, Scouts and Guides 7th Camporee 2005 began today at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur under the theme “In selfless Service”.

The camporee is being organized by the Don Bosco Youth and Educational Services (DBYES) and the Dimapur District Scouts and Guides Association. 

Speaking at the welcome gathering, Rev. Father Thomas, Provincial of Dimapur Province said that the gathering of the Scouts and Guides from different states of North East was a sign to join hands and work together for peace. He said “to attain we have to begin a war within us as corruption starts from within us”.

He pointed out that to gain the best from others, we have to give the best in us and has urged the gathering to create a wonderful North east in particular and India as a whole. He also told the Scouts and Guides to prepare to be good citizens and to promote peace and wished a very happy experience for all. Father John P.S. Sebastian, Director DBYES said that the main aim of the programme was to get together and to understand each other and know the culture.

“It is all based on peace,” said Fr. John. He further said that it was a reunion under the theme and celebrating it.   

Alex chaired the programme while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Kevileno Haikam, Organizing Secretary cum DOC Bharat Scouts and Guide Dimapur. The programme witnessed a number of special songs from the Cutting Edge Band from Maram Don Bosco College and Dimapur Don Bosco while The DBS, Mon, DBS, Dimapur and the Psycho Freaks presented dances. 

Altogether around 450 participants from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have come together for the Camporee.
