Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• Yes. They (the truly educated generation) know what's going on in the 21st century. They're wired for it.
• Yes, they should. There is no excuse for the younger generation not to do better. The younger generation have no other choice but to provide a positive difference that is better than the past.
• Yes. By conscientization of mass movement. Today youngsters are feed up of this corruption, tribalism and factionalism which eats away all the social fabrics and developmental resources. They wants to see and enjoy Nagaland as developed as other states, town and cities. Actually, what nagas cannot do, I should say nagas second to none. Given a chance, can do anything. Even among the north eastern state why centre give a special attention to Nagaland, a big question need to be answer critically.
• Yes, They have enormous potential to bring better changes to the system that is stagnant through their knowledge and use of technology.
• Young people r more educated n civilised in this modern world, they have the capable of every changes. Beside they r well aware of how things r going on and r the future maker. therefore, young people have every possibility to bring a positive change in the Naga society.
• Yes, The potential is there. They need to be more steady and should study the situation first so that they are able to make the best decision.
• Yes.....the old need to give way to the young.....the young have new ideas, more inclusive, educated etc..
• Yes, if the young people keep their feet firmly grounded, I have full faith that the younger generation can bring about a positive difference in our society today. I only wish that the older generation recognize this and give space to the younger generation.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• No, the young people today have no vision for the future. All they talk and think about is their own selfish interests. When they do not know about their history, just imagine what kind of contribution they are going to make.
• No. Just a cursory glance at the numerous youth social networking only reveals negative thinking and all they do is criticize people. Even some laudable steps that are taken is not appreciated. What kind of positivity will they make.
• No. These days the young people are lazy and all they do is complain, complain and complain. They are not willing to take any responsibility at all. They blame everyone else for the problems, but refuse to also blame themselves.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• Good education cannot be the only criteria. We need committed people who are selfless and will put the people first before anything. Today we have many well-educated young people, but I don’t see them being selfless. Most of them do not even know their own mother tongue and have lost touch with their roots. What kind of positive difference can they bring?
• We have a handful of young politicians in our state, and also anti-corruption is being spearheaded by acaut. When you judge their performance, the politicians are following the older generation, and organizations like acaut are like a rudderless head without any clear direction. We are doomed.
• Young people are well exposed to the world and are qualified and with right guidance, they can bring many positive changes. They need some time to mature. This is not the right time now.
