Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): The Youth Eco Club of Government Middle School (GMS) Dimapur Town, in collaboration with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), conducted a tree plantation drive on May 15.
The drive was carried out from Half Nagarjan Police Point to the school premises, where students, teachers, officials and volunteers planted around 70 saplings along the roadside stretch. The initiative aimed to promote clean air and environmental awareness through tree plantation to help reduce the impact of pollution in the community.
Around 250 students from Classes 6, 7 and 8 participated in the programme. Guided by teachers and officials, the students planted saplings, installed metal tree barricades for protection, watered the plants and cleaned the surrounding roadside area while learning about environmental conservation and civic responsibility.
School authorities stated that such activities help nurture environmentally conscious and responsible citizens committed to sustainable living. The Youth Eco Club also expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, local volunteers, colony authorities and supporters for their cooperation in making the drive successful.
“The future is green, and it begins with us. Let us all play our part for the air we share,” the release stated.
