Phek, February 12 (MExN): The men’s football event at the 58th Tizu Area Sports Association (TASA) on February 12 saw high scoring matches.
Tehephu defeated Mutsale 7-0 while Kutsokhuno defeated Kutsapo 9-1 in another high scoring match. Meanwhile Khuza drew with Chepoketa 2-2.
In women’s football, Kutsapo defeated Chepoketa 1-0.
The women’s volleyball events saw Kutsokhuno beating Tehephu while Khuza defeated Kutsokhuno in the women’s basketball match.
Tehephu, Kizari and Kutsokhuno registered wins in the men’s basketball events. In men’s volleyball, Chepoketsa and Tehephu registered wins in their respective matches.
The meet entered the third day today at Kütsapo village under Phek district.
Altogether, 7 villages - Tehephu, Kutsokhuno, Kizari, Chepoketa, Khuza, Mutsale and Kutsapo are vying for top honours in track events and field events, football, volleyball and basketball.
In men’s football, the champion will be awarded Rs 2 lakh along with the Lt Sashito Vero Memorial Trophy. Runners up will receive Rs 1 lakh along with the Lt Vedai Tetseo Memorial Trophy.
The men’s volleyball event carries cash prize of Rs 60, 000 along with the Lt Masune Nienu Memorial Trophy, and the runners up will get Rs 15, 000.
Cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 have also been set for the champion and runner-up in men’s basketball.
In women’s football, the champion will be awarded Rs 1 lakh along with Lt Lhuvetsu Chizo Memorial trophy. The runners up will receive Rs 26,000.
In women’s volleyball, the winner will pocket Rs 50,000 sponsored by Lt Thisolu Khesoh’s family while there is a prize of Rs 15,000 prize for the runner up.
In women’s basketball, the winner will receive Rs 15,000 while the runner-up will get Rs7,700.
The group champions will receive Rs 40,000 sponsored by MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.
