The 3rd Gold Cup organised by Nepali Baptist Church, Tuensang concluded on January 8 at Parade Ground in Tuensang.

Gold Star Cricket Club (CC) emerged victorious over one of their nemesis Tuensang Royals.

After being defeated Tuensang Royals in the league match, the match was set for a thrilling end.

Gold Star who won the toss and elected to field first restricted the young team to a total of 96 runs. Baharul Islam, the hero of the first match was unable to make his mark in the scoreboard coming in as the sixth batsmen.

He was dismissed by J B of Gold Star and by then the Royals were outplayed by the eventual champions. J B and Shahin took three wickets each; Zahed scalped two wickets while Bobai and Moni took one each.

In the second innings, chasing a target of 97 runs, Zing, the man in form scored 26 runs before he was caught out at the ball of Saddam. With contribution from the rest of the team, Gold Star  eased to a win by 3 wickets.

Earlier, Rupali Purkaystha, Principal, Loyem Memorial College, Tuensang graced the occasion as the Special Guest of the closing ceremony. She congratulated and encouraged the organising committee to bring local tournament on social media platforms through daily updates of the matches played when they organise the next tournament.
