Government assures full scholarship before Christmas

ENCSU decides to keep agitation in abeyance

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 7 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has decided to keep in abeyance its ongoing protest/agitation after the state government assured to release the full amount of scholarship before Christmas.

A press note from the ENCSU acknowledged the government’s “admission for lapses in the system,” and expressed optimism that the system will be streamlined from next year as assured by the Chief Secretary.

The union also anticipated the report from the SIT and that the same will be published in print media as demanded. It further appealed to the SIT to process and expedite the investigation so that the truth is revealed and justice is delivered through “impartial and fair investigation leaving no room for doubt and misgivings.”

“It must not try to come into conclusion with some compromising solution or the other way round as it is never a case of argument or false allegations. The logic is very simple - catch the thief!” it added.

The union meanwhile acknowledged the Chief Minister, the Cabinet and the Chief Secretary towards initiating necessary corrective measures so as to ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.

It however cautioned that if the government fails to fulfill its assurances, the ENCSU would not remain silent.
