Dimapur, April 20 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome, IAS urged the newly recruited trainees of group B&C state government employees of Dimapur District to be loyal, sincere and committed to the service that sustains their livelihoods.
Giving a motivational talk at Circuit House, Dimapur on April 20, he said that government employees depends their entire livelihood on the service as such no one can say that they have bigger priorities than the service that sustains their livelihoods. “If you are loyal to other co-curricular activities other than the service that sustains your livelihood then something is seriously wrong,” he added.
Yhome observed that to carry out the work every day as expected and to keep going every day is a challenge for everyone. In Nagaland, works normally starts at 11 and ends at 3 o'clock so the productivity and contributions of the government employees may not be where we are supposed to be, he said.
Stressing on the principles of a government servant, he pointed out that self- discipline is an important principle where each and every employee should strictly maintain. He said that no one or the superior officers need not inform us when to come or when to leave the office or nobody should be begging them to do their assigned duties. He also expressed concern over food habits and maintaining decorum in the office.
While urging the trainees, he challenged them to keep their aptitude with time. He said that if an employee is not acquainted with the desktops and computers they become a liability. He therefore, asked the employees to keep their skills and aptitude in line with the system. He also mentioned that regularity, endurance and mindset are the most important principles for an employee to maintain in order to become successful in life.
He challenged the trainees to bring changes in the system and reminded that no one can say that they are mere a clerk or point out what changes could they bring about in the system. Instead, he asked the trainees to take problems and obstacles as challenges saying that many government officers failed because they took challenges as problems. Problem crops up if one gives up saying that he is incapable to bring changes at this point of time. Hence, challenges are there for winners to overcome, he said.
Expressing concern over the work culture, he observed that Nagas have no work culture citing habitual absentee or a late comer to the office as an instance. He said Nagas are so connected in one way or the other way thereby facing difficulties in moving forward. Yhome also asked the trainees to be true to themselves irrespective of circumstances around them.
Terming the participants as frontline personnel, he urged them to be polite and diligent in their approach while interacting with people as it brings great changes into the system.DC also stressed on importance of keeping files and timely disposing.
