Government sincerely working to bring development to people: Rio

Kiphire, April 29 (MExN): On the way to Tizu River for site-seeing of Hydro Project 42 M/W construction and also to inaugurate Bailey bridge, Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with the leaders of Pungro area, Government officers and GBs at GA Guest House, Pungro on April 28. 

The CM requested the people to have a mindset of working together as the Government is sincerely working to bring development to the people, stated a DIPR report. “Government job reservations had been given to strengthen and uplift the people of backward areas,” he said calling upon the people to take advantage of it. 

He said that 42 M/W construction was also taking place as soon as possible which would help improve the economy, DIPR report stated.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye said, “education is the most important part of our lives in order to compete with the rest of the world and strict focus needs to be on this field.”

He also maintained that cooperation among the community is a must and called one and all to come together.

“Development is very important in one's life and we should not compromise in this matter, together we can do it, and all sections of the people should come forward,” he added.

Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimchunger spoke on ‘Delimitation 2026’ and called upon the leaders and people to take responsibility and cooperation in this field for a better future generation.

Welcome address was delivered by JB Shahoto President GBs Union Pungro sub-division. Short speeches were delivered by Throngso President YTC, Kiphire Village, and M Thsesong Yimchunger, Chairman, Milongmika Range (Mimi). The meeting was chaired by Pungro ADC Theodore Yanthan.

Zinki Bailey Bridge at Zinki River inaugurated 
Meanwhile, the CM inaugurated the Zinki Bailey Bridge at Zinki River on April 28. “Completion of bridge will bring multi-faceted progress for the people,” Rio said during the inaugural and informed about the upcoming funding programmes.

He said Rs 180 crore was kept ready with the Government to be utilised through DUDA for development in education and health sectors, and that discussions would be held with departmental HODs on guidelines and priorities. He also cautioned for judicious use of funds.

The CM earlier, unveiled the inaugural monolith Stone.

Giving the technical reports, Er N Imti Chang Executive Engineer DUDA said the Bridge, measuring 14 feet width and 160 feet in length, was completed at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

In the programme, short speeches were given by Advisor Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimchunger; Advisor, Geology and Mining DUDA Chingang Konyak; Tutheze Village Council; USLP and USSC. 

Representative for Longmatra Area GBs Association appraised for upgradation of EAC to SDO Civil post at Longmatra. He also reminded for prompt implementation in regard to Inland water way connectivity from Longmatra to Avakhung stretch of Tizu-Zinki River. Commissioner & Secretary (DUDA) KS Anden Konyak chaired the programme.
