Kohima, July 19 (MExN): PB Acharya has completed his fourth year in office as the Governor of Nagaland on July 19. PRO to Governor in a press release stated that on the occasion, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, Kohima gathered to honour the Governor on the occasion at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
Principal Secretary to Governor, Piyush Goyal, IAS stated that under the guidance of the Governor, Raj Bhavan Nagaland is moving towards new heights and achievements. Goyal also said Governor Acharya has been a source of inspiration and has taken up various initiatives for the welfare of the people and the Governor’s Secretariat including promoting of water harvesting, use of solar energy, construction of vermin compose pits, introduction of E-governance, etc.
He added that Governor Acharya supports and advocates the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” project and other Central and State Government welfare schemes for the benefit of the people. Various medical camps in different districts of Nagaland were also conducted under the Governors initiative, he added.
The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya lit four lamps symbolising four years in office. He thanked the Officers and Staff of Raj Bhavan Kohima for the support rendered towards him during the last four years.
Earlier, Principal Secretary to Governor released a book compilation of the Governor’s third year activities to mark the occasion.
PB Acharya took Oath as the Governor of Nagaland on July 19, 2014. Over the last four years, Governor Acharya has held additional charge as Governor of Tripura, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at different points of time.
Distributes Water Tanks
The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya distributed the subsidised 3000 litres water tanks to the 20 beneficiaries for rain water harvesting at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on July 19.
Governor Acharya called on the beneficiaries to encourage others to harvest rain water for their benefit. Stating that hill stations face water shortage during the dry season, he encouraged people to collect water during the rainy seasons. The Governor stated that rainwater harvesting was the need of the hour and making the switch to an eco friendly rainwater harvesting system was neither complicated nor time consuming which will result in a wide range of benefits for home or business.
20 beneficiaries for distribution of 3000 litre water tanks to promote water harvesting, an initiative of the Governor, were selected on 6th July 2018 at Raj Bhavan Kohima. The beneficiaries were provided the water storage tanks at a subsidized rate of 59 percent.
The programme was chaired by Joint Secretary to Governor, SK Sahoo.
