Governor summons report on fuel diversion

Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): The Governor’s office has taken strong cognizance of a reported diversion of a huge quantity of kerosene oil meant for Fair Price Shops in Longleng. The Governor has directed that the quantity, about 22, 000 liters, diverted in the name of VIPs be canceled immediately and an action taken report be submitted to the Governor’s office without delay. 

Secretary to Governor Abhishek Singh, IAS, today issued a notice to the Commissioner  & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Food & Civil Supplies, and the Director of Food & Civil Supplies, Dimapur that action be taken immediately, namely, canceling the said diversion and then, submitting an action-report. The Governor’s office stated that complaints were received from the public of Longleng district that kerosene oil meant for Fair Price Shops (FPS) has been diverted in the name of VIPs of Longleng.  

“As per the complaint, it is clear that out of a total allocation of 36,000 liters of kerosene oil for Longleng district only 14,000 liters has been allocated for FPS and around 22,000 liters has been reserved for VIPs of Longleng district” the governor’s office stated. The governor has directed that the diversion of the said quantity is against the objective of PDS and such arbitrary diversion affects the distribution of essential commodity like kerosene oil for the people of the State.  “His Excellency has further directed that all such arbitrary allocations for VIPs etc may be cancelled immediately and allocation of Kerosene oil in all districts must be strictly done as per the proportion of the population of the concerned villages.  Action must be taken immediately in this regard and a Status Report should be submitted immediately for the perusal of His Excellency the Governor” it added.
