Governor welcomes medical centre at Settsu village

Kohima, August 26 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya in a letter addressed to Dr. Sungtiakum Jamir, dated 24th August 2017, stated immense appreciation on receiving the news about the setting up of a medical centre at Settsu village under Mokokchung district by the Anava Foundation, an NGO registered in Nagaland which is a sister society of Anava Foundation, Switzerland.

PRO to Governor in a press release said that the Governor applauded the initiative taken by Dr. Sungtiakum Jamir and his wife Nadia Jamir to provide quality health care services and education.

The medical centre will provide gynecological, obstetrical, surgical and general medicine services. In the letter, the Governor also highlighted that health care is the right to every individual.

“Rural health care is one of the biggest challenges faced by India. With more than 70 percent population living in rural areas and low level of health facilities, mortality rates due to diseases are on a high,” he stated. He further cited that in rural areas, the conditions of good medical facilities are rare.

Considering the picture of grim facts, there is a dire need for new practices and procedures to ensure that quality and timely healthcare reaches the deprived corners of the villages. To this backdrop, he hoped that Anava Hospital will provide quality and affordable health care services to the needy people in our State and said (PPP) Public Private Partnership is the need of the hour. He urged, “Let us strengthen Naga society.”
