Kohima, January 11 (MExN): The government has issued an order to all departments in Nagaland to cancel supply orders that were placed without issuing tenders and adherence to required guidelines. Secretary to Governor, Abhishek Singh, IAS, said that complaints were received from the government highlighting a good number of supply orders placed without due cognizance of guidelines, like calling for tenders, placing advertisements and related code formalities. Several departments have been identified with a good number of such defective orders.
“It was a government proposal to cancel (the defaulting supply orders placed against norms and existing guidelines). The Secretary to Governor also said that the order for cancellation of the defaulting supply orders would be specific to all orders that have not been executed yet. “We can’t do much about it (orders that have been already executed)” Singh said. Singh also said any action report from the departments in concern has yet to be received.
Over the fiscal amount the cancelled supply orders could accrue, he said it cannot be arrived at for now. It is expected to be huge, however. The Governor of Nagaland K. Sankaranarayanan issued the order through Nagaland Chief Secretary, Lalhuma in Kohima on January 9. The Chief Secretary has circulated the order to all the departments for immediate follow-up and action.
