Measles-Rubella vaccine campaign held at Jakhama sub-division
DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): A meeting on measles-rubella vaccine campaign to eradicate measles and rubella by 2022 was held at SDO(C) office, Jakhama on July 25, 2018.
SDO (C) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar said that the state government was very serious about the health of future generation and emphasized the role of various stakeholders in achieving 100% immunization. Dr. Zemoho, SMO, CHC Viswema, during the meeting said that measles is one of the most vaccine preventable diseases. He stressed on the importance of the role of Village Council, teachers, women leaders in eradicating the disease.
Stating that one-third of the measles related death cases are from India, Dr. Lozinu Peseyie said the best way to avoid measles related deaths is through immunization. She revealed that most of the deaths related to measles-rubella are between the age group of 9 months and below15 years, therefore the vaccination will target these age groups.
Dr. Lolehol Pucho, MO, CHC Viswema, during the meeting sought to allay the fears of parents about the side effects of the vaccine and said that measles-rubella vaccine have very less side effects.
Dr. Kehosenu Sakhrie, MO Jakhama also spoke on the symptoms, causes and detection of measles and rubella. The meeting was attended by Village councils, SMO, MO under Jakhama sub-division and Kezocha Circle, teachers, women leaders and various stakeholders.
