Govt’s impatience growing at delay of DPRs from Depts

Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary, Lalhuma expressed concern over delay of submission of Detail Project Reports (DPRs) for obtaining negotiated loan from Financial Institutions. Lalhuma lamented that such delays on important projects lead to implementations only in the subsequent year. He observed that such practices reflect bad planning on the part of the State Government. The Chief Secretary was addressing senior government officials at the monthly meeting of the administrative heads and heads of departments held at the Kohima Civil Secretariat,  on August 29.

He asked the administrative heads and heads of department to give more attention towards the project. The Chief Secretary also enlightened the officers on the statistics of projects accorded clearance by the Planning Department for negotiated loan during 2006-07 and stated that 16 Departments have not yet submitted the DPR to Planning Department. The concern Departments should therefore submit their project reports and obtain Planning and Finance Department Clearance by September 15.

The Chief Secretary directed all officers should submit their tour notes to him for all their tours. The meeting also discussed the problems being faced by the mobile phone subscribers in the state. The representatives from Air-Cell, Reliance and Air-Tel who attended the meeting enlightened the officers that efforts are being made to provide better facilities to their subscribers. Chief Secretary requested them to ensure better connectivity and suggested that measures to prevent misuse of cell phones be taken.

Secretary Horticulture, Thangi Mannen who attended the 16th International Agri Exhibition in Israel made a power point presentation on the exhibition. Besides showing the active participation of Nagaland delegation led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in the international meet, Thangi Mannen also highlighted how the Israeli Government develops agriculture and allied activities by making maximum use of scarce water and arable land in the desert thereby providing 95% of its food requirements.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary circulated an office memorandum on the Prime Minister’s 15 Point programme for the welfare of the minorities and said that discussions will be held in the next monthly meeting.
