One-day awareness cum GP onboarding camp on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was held at the DC conference hall, Wokha on February 6.

The awareness programme was organised by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office Dimapur, in collaboration with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland, and the District Administration. The event was attended by Village Council Chairmen (VCCs) from three blocks: Wokha, Chukitong, and Wozhuro.

During the programme, Vineet Kumar (IAS) Deputy Commissioner, Wokha highlighted that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was introduced by the Government of India to recognise artisans, craftsmen, and craftspersons across various trades. He emphasized that the scheme aims to provide skill upgradation opportunities to enhance their craftsmanship through relevant training programmes.

Highlighting on the importance of verifying applicants, he urged the VCCs to carefully select and recommend genuine candidates, ensuring that both the applicants and the community benefit maximally from the scheme.

LL Victoria, Consultant at Ernest & Young Company, PM Vishwakarma (PMU), briefed the attendees on the guidelines for the scheme’s implementation. She informed the participants that the following traditional trades have been identified for beneficiaries under the scheme: boat maker, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and toolkit maker, locksmith, sculptor, goldsmith, basket/mat/broom/coir weaving, cobbler, potter, doll and toy maker, garland maker, barber, fishing net maker, and washerman.

She further advised the beneficiaries to complete their onboarding in coordination with the District Implementing Committee, ensuring that verified Aadhaar-seeded names and mobile numbers are uploaded to the eGramswaraj portal.

Later, DC Wokha Vineet Kumar presented toolkits to five beneficiaries who had undergone training in carpentry.
