GPRN endorse ban on liquor

Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): Holding the view that ‘it is the mandate of the people’ that sale and consumption of liquor has affected the normal lives of people in the Naga society, the GPRN has endorsed the ban on sale of liquor and its consumption.

“Therefore, with the response and support of the public, the move to ban the flow of liquor in Nagalim was initiated by the government itself for which, the same order is being upheld. Following the order, the government shall initiate the order and hereby ask the public to retain and honor the order to make a better home than what we are now. As such, the authorities, leaders and all the citizens of Dimapur are fervently appeal to co-operate with the move to make the mission a place in our own society” Romeo Sankhil, Secretary of UT-I, GPRN stated in a release.  The GPRN also cautioned proprietors of restaurants/hotels  falling under the jurisdiction of Union Territory-I against selling foreign liquors and towards this, directed the proprietors to “close their shops immediately.”

It also informed individuals, groups, and societies who were customers of Nagaland State Co-operative Bank that the scam that was broke out in January 2004 “is still under investigation till date by the GPRN government”. It asked all concerned not to “disturb the peaceful existence of Mrs. Temsukala the then accountant and her entire family members till the matter is materialized.”
