DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has issued a statement regarding the recent incident that occurred on September 19 at Vihokhu Village.
In a press release from the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the organization explained that a group of Naga Army personnel was deployed to summon Hokivi Awomi, a resident of Vihokhu, due to allegations related to the misuse of funds in a lending and borrowing case.
Hokivi, who was an active member of GPRN/NSCN, acted as an intermediary between a borrower and a lender. He reportedly received Rs 7, 60,000 (seven lakh sixty thousand) from the borrower but failed to transfer the amount to the lender. Following a complaint from the lender, an agreement was reached on April 3, 2024, where Hokivi voluntarily committed to return the funds by July 20.
On July 18, a reminder about the impending deadline was issued, but despite multiple attempts to contact Hokivi regarding the repayment, he became untraceable and eventually defected to another faction.
The GPRN/NSCN stated that, following intervention by the Vihokhu Village Council and their assurance, the Naga Army decided to respect the village authority's wishes and leave the matter for local resolution.
