DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN today questioned the “high handedness of the Assam rifles” and condemned what it termed were “unwarranted pre dawn raids and frisking on its members.”
A press note issued through the MIP of the GPRN/NSCN said that “the acts of the Assam rifles are unscrupulous without any rhyme and reason, creating unnecessary harassment and fear psychosis.”
“When the people are yearning for peace, the Assam rifles are creating problems, which is a liability to the peaceful co-existence between Nagas and GoI,” it stated. It termed the AR’s “regular raids on the national workers” as “nothing but a nefarious design and evil motive of the Assam rifles to defame the image of GPRN/NSCN.”
It reminded the Assam rifles that the GPRN/NSCN is under Ceasefire Agreement with the Government of India, “wherein entering into ceasefire agreement with GoI is to show the willingness of the Nagas to solve Indo-Naga political issue through political dialogue and therefore should not be taken for granted.”
The GPRN/NSCN further asked the Chairman of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board to direct the Assam rifles from conducting any further raids and frisking on the members of GPRN/NSCN “as the ground rules should be jointly implemented by both the parties.”
