Greenwood Hr. Sc School, Kuda Village, conducted its annual science exhibition on Saturday at the school auditorium with Deputy Passport Officer, Nagaland Seva, Thangpong Khiamniungan, gracing the event as chief guest.

Addressing the students and parents, Thangpong said the concept of science exhibition is to bridge the gap between the scientific community and public and that science exhibitions form an integral and important part of the school curriculum. He said such events encourage young minds to inculcate scientific temperament besides providing a platform for students to exhibit their scientific and innovative talents – to come up with original and new ideas and not always to copy what others have done or invented. The chief guest said science is a great blessing to mankind as it has made their lives easier and transformed the way we travel, eat, think and communicate with each other. It has also revealed the secrets and mysteries of life, nature and the universe and also reduced human miseries through discoveries and inventions in the medical frontiers.

He however cautioned that science can be both a blessing and a curse as it can be applied for good as well as evil uses. “”The choice is yours…we should not be slaves to science but use it to our advantage”, Tongpang added.   Students of different grades also shared on the topic “My experience with science.” Earlier, principal of Greenwood School, Sedelu Peseyie, introduced the chief guest to the students and assistant teacher, Science Club of the school, MC Das, delivered welcome address.

More than a hundred students from lower section to Class XII took part in the exhibition.
