As per the statement released in the name of Konyak Region Chairman of K group, some of our Konyak brothers appeared to have been thoroughly brainwashed to go against the longest serving Naga freedom fighter Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak, the Chairman of NSCN and President of the GPRN. A gentleman leader that he is, he has clearly directed the MIP not to respond to the allegations but simply advised the young people creating confusion in Konyak Region in particular and Nagaland as a whole, that one day their unfounded allegations will stare them in their faces because Konyak general public knows who Gen. (Retd) Khole is. He is the father figure to not only the Konyaks but entire revolutionaries in the North East.
Our respected leader Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak has been an independent man with an independent mind. Accusing him of running away from the Konyak people is an outburst of frightened men wishing to degrade the honoured man. When he did not run away during his prime, how can any Konyak accuse him of listening to Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi?
Accusing General Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi of attempting to kill Wangtin Naga is highly inflammatory and I feel the truth that I know must be told. The impeachment and expulsion of S.S Khaplang on 7th June 2011 was the handiwork of some key players who I shall now reveal to the Konyak people in particular and Nagas people so that those who are responsible will admit to their acts of treachery.
Maj. General Nikhui Sumi (Niki), Kughalu Mulatonu and Wangtin Naga were three officials who frequently visited S.S Khaplang one after the other and as the dust have cleared it is clear their motive was to feed S.S Khaplang with lies and concocted stories about the then C-in-C Gen. Khole Konyak and Gen. Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi, in a hope that S.S Khaplang would dismiss both the leaders from the GPRN/NSCN. The plan was going smoothly for Gen. Niki, Kughalu Mulatonu and Wangtin Naga but somehow the home authorities received the political developments taking place on the eastern side.
On 4th June 2011, in the morning, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi called Gen. Niki, Brig. Samson Aye, myself and Col. Aheto Chophy to his residence and disclosed the latest political storm brewing in eastern Nagaland. Gen. Niki, being the senior most, spoke first and said there is something dangerous happening but it was too early to disclose. He pointed out that S.S Khaplang must be expelled immediately and replaced by the then C-in-C Gen. Khole Konyak. After expulsion of S.S Khaplang, president Khole should immediately order the death of Wangtin Naga because was working against the government.
As per the prevailing political situation, the National Hoho was convened on 7th June 2011 and S.S Khaplang was impeached and expelled from the GPRN/NSCN in which Kughalu Mulatonu, Gen. Niki and Hokato Vusshe were the notable signatories.
Gen. Niki expected the new president to give the execution order of Wangtin Naga however, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi pleaded appealed to President Gen. Khole Konyak that right after he became president would not be in the interest of the Naga people. Gen. Niki even on 14th June 2011 advised and sought the order to kill Wangtin Naga. Logically speaking since Wangtin Naga, Niki and Kughalu Mulatonu had planned the political crisis, they cannot effort to stay in different camps because their plot would be out in the open. If Wangtin was killed, they would stay at Khehoi Designated camp and S.S Khaplang would stay impeached and expelled but if Wangtin Naga was spared, they (Mulatonu and Niki) would be exposed sooner or later. Instead of death penalty, Wangtin Naga was expelled and this made Gen. Niki and Kughalu Mulatonu extremely restless. Unless they join Wangtin, their dirty plan would be out in the open anytime. This is the reason why Gen. Niki Sumi, Kughalu Mulatnu were forced to sneak away like thieves from Designated Khehoi in june 2011. I out rightly reject the claim that Gen. Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi planned to kill Wangtin Naga. I am sure if Mr. Wangtin understands that what I write here is the truth. I am sure he can put the pieces together and understand who his friends are.
I request our Konyak National workers and Konyak general public that if there is any issue in Konyak Region, the problem must be solved amicably and through understanding. Blaming and accusing GPRN/NSCN President Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak will not help the Konyak people or anyone. He has never run away from anyone and he has never surrendered to anyone in his distinguished career. Those people creating situations in Konyak region are not even Konyaks. The integrity and commitment of Gen (Retd) Khole Konyak is a pride for all Konyaks and the Naga people. Let me also remind our Konyak National workers and community that Gen (Retd) Khole Konyak, the president and Chairman of GPRN/NSCN will always be a Konyak in life and in death.
