Gunmen assault, rob Naga Hoho Vice President

Kohima, Nov 29 (MExN): In an unprecedented, most condemnable incident, Naga Hoho Vice President Keviletou Kiewhuo was physically assaulted and his belongings robbed by two unidentified gunmen in Kohima Monday night while he was returning home.

Keviletou told The Morung Express that he was stopped by two gun brandishing youths at the local taxi stand, Kohima at around 11 pm when he was returning home. The two gunmen blindfolded Keviletou and with his hands tied at the back took him towards Jotsoma side in his vehicle. Even after identifying himself as the Vice President of the Naga Hoho, the two miscreants took away two mobile handsets and a wallet containing around Rs.21, 000, it was informed. Keviletou also said that the two gunmen punched him in the face and chest and threatened to kill him. He was later taken to AG colony and released.

Keviletou suspected the gunmen to be UG cadres of lower rank, out on the streets to extort under the power of the gun. “Soon we may be able to find out who are the miscreants” Keviletou said. Additional account of the assault from the Naga Hoho said that the Vice President was returning home after visiting a friend who had arrived from Delhi. The Naga Hoho account said that Keviletuo was let off by the miscreants on ‘sensing’ an IRB check post at Kohima Science College and released after robbing him off twenty one thousand rupees.

Meanwhile the Naga Hoho has demanded from the miscreants or the underground faction they belong to, reasons why the leader was treated in that despicable way. Giving accounts of the entire incident, the Hoho through its Press Secretary P Chuba Ozukum asked the involved to come out and “speak openly”. The Hoho also appealed to state law enforcing agencies to book the culprits without further delay.
