Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): Along with the rest of the Rongmei population, Rongmei Youth Club Dimapur (RYCD) observed 86th Martyr’s Day of Haipou Jadonang on August 29 at Rongmei Tribal Court Burma Camp. Silent prayer was observed to pay homage to “our Great Leader” Haipou Jadonang on the occasion, stated a press release from RYCD president, Makuran Dangmei Fr. Joshua Gangmei, principal of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School Dimapur, who was the speaker, cited Haipou Jadonang’s struggle to fight for the people against mighty Britishers. He urged the congregation to follow the good example of the leader and to be brave to fight back for “our” rights, the press release said. Thuanreiliu Ruangmei, executive member, RYCD chaired the event, Ambrose Makuthai Malangmei, chairman, Rongmei Community Development Welfare Society offered an opening prayer. Welcome speech was delivered by Makuran Dangmei, president RYCD, while a special song was presented by women of St. Paul Catholic Church Burma Camp. The celebration came to a close with G. Ajenpu, general secretary RYCD delivering concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
