HARMONIC SURGE 2: workshop, mini concert and many more

HARMONIC SURGE 2 happening in October 14-16, 2016 and organised by The Nagaland Chamber Choir is a three day long choral festival which promises a wide-range of musical knowledge and inputs to be imparted through the various master class, clinics and workshops. The venue for the event will be Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church.   The festival ensures meaningful, uplifting and inspirational interactions with the resource persons. The resource persons are Asin Shurhozelie: Voice and Performance; Louise Shishak: Violin; Mhathung Odyuo: Cello and wind instruments; and Noel De la Rosa: Piano and choir conducting.   Participants will get the opportunity to get first-hand musical advice and guidance, mentoring through such interactions. All enthusiastic musicians should avail such rare opportunities with both hands.   The Festival organisers also announce the special event, “Friendship Concert” on October 15. It is a mini-concert where a few prominent choirs of Nagaland will come together and share a common platform. The concert itself is another rare event which intends to create social unity and harmony through music. Now this promises to be musical feast for all delegates and music lovers alike. The entry is free!   The major attractions of the Harmonic Surge will be the Choir competitions:

a) Mixed choir: Any church, group or institutions is open to participate in the competition. b) Children's choir: The Organisers have introduced the Children's choir competition (14 years and below) with the aim to encourage and develop the Children choirs in our churches, communities.

For both competitions, there are a minimum number of 20 members and 40 member maximum. A total of over Rs 1 lakh cash awards, besides others, shall be given away to the deserving winners.   Another special feature is the ‘individual choir’ coaching, where all competing choirs will be given the opportunity to participate in individual choir sessions with the choral experts. For this, the experts will rehearse the group's contest piece with the choir to provide new artistic ideas and impetus.   Individuals not participating in the choir competitions will, however, attend these coaching classes as observers and learn meanwhile.
