Bringing relief to the populace of Pfutsero and neighboring villages under Phek district, a Pfutsero based NGO–“The Kalos” in association with medical fraternity and other social organizations today gave another healing touch to 1050 patients here by organizing its 2nd free health camp.
Altogether 14 specialist doctors from different fields, three pharmacists, three technicians and eight nurses rendered their service to give a healing touch to the needy.
The day-long camp offered free consultation, medicines, spot surgery (minor) and blood sugar monitoring.
Among other cases, 450 patients were detected with blood sugar. Eighteen (18) patients underwent minor operations successfully. The sight of the long queue of people-both young and old spoke volume about health consciousness among the community. The first free health camp took place in 2014 where more than 850 patients benefited, said Weto Kapfo, coordinator The Kalos. He said it was an opportunity for the villagers to avail the health care facilities, as most of them cannot afford to go outside for medical check-up and treatment.
Dr Neikhrielie Solo, managing director, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and managing director, KP Bethesda Hospital, Kohima stated that besides the spot check- ups as well as minor operations, major cases detected were referred to hospitals in Kohima.
The medical camp was organized by ‘The Kalos’ in association with Indian Red Cross Society, Pfutsero Branch, Community Health Centre Pfutsero, Chakhesang Women Welfare Society, KP Bethesda Hospital Kohima, Gynae Institute of Virility, Fertility, Kohima, GIVF Hospital Kohima and Advanced Dental Aesthetic & Inplantology Clinic Kohima. The Morung Express was the media partner while ITC Pfutsero-Natural Juice extended free refreshments.
