Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Kuda village Dimapur organized Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND) on March 8 at the village health sub centre. A press release informed that it was the tenth VHND held in the village for the financial year 2013-14. During the program, all the children were weighed and nutritional foods were distributed in the presence of the GBs and Village Health Committee (VHC) members. Vaccination for BCG, DPT, JE, measles, hepatitis, polio, and tetanus was carried out and also Vitamin A was administered.OPD was also carried out. Close to 150 children were attended to during the Day.
According to the release, a VHC member present expressed that the sub centre has only 4 permanent employees, but oversees and covers the whole of Kuda Village, Phaipijang, Toulazouma, Super Market and High School area with a total of 4858 households and registered population of 22,216.Therefore, he opined that up gradation of the sub centre to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) with a doctor and more staffs was needed. This will not only meet the need of the locality, but also ease the rush at the District Hospital to some extent, he added.
