Mon, November 19 (MExN): Health and Wellness Centre of Jakphang, C/Chingnyu, Changlang, Longching, Apao, Mohung and Chenmoho HWC under Mon district  was  inaugurated by the Chief Medical Officer, Deputy CMO, DVBO, DTO and DIO on November 16. 


During the inauguration programme, a press release issued by Leeyan Chemshy, District Media Officer, NHM, Mon stated that Dr Kechongol Sophie, CMO, Mon appreciated the people of Jakphang village for the clean environment that they have adopted. He said that if the cleanliness and sanitation improves, communicable disease will drastically reduce and the health of the people will dramatically improve and that the new generation will have a better future.  


He also announced that the State Government has declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) in Nagaland on October 2, 2018 which was achieved one year ahead before the National target. Focusing on the Health & Wellness Centre he elucidated that the centre will provide screening on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Cancer, etc, however, he said that the beneficiaries should also contribute for their better health and support their service providers by giving  up some risk factors such as smoking, tobacco chewing, alcohol abuse, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity. 


He requested all the village leaders present in the meeting to support and cooperate with the health staffs to make the centre fully functional for the welfare of the village.


Meanwhile, Dr K Limatula Ao, Dy CMO, Mon inaugurated Choaha Chingnyu and Apao HWC. She said that the HWCs which is a component under Ayushman Bharat, is done by upgrading existing Sub-centres and Primary Health centre. These centres are meant to deliver Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) by bringing healthcare closer to the homes of people covering both maternal and child health services and non-communicable diseases. Health and Wellness Centers are envisaged to deliver an expanded range of services to address the primary health care needs of the entire population in their village. 


The inaugural programme for each HWCs were held in their respective villages attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dy CMO, DIO (UIP&RCH), DVBO, DTO, BPMs along with all the village leaders, Church Leaders, Youth Leaders and Women organisation.
