Health department assess preparedness for 2nd wave of pandemic

Kohima, April 6 (MExN): Officials of the state Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW) held a meeting on April 6 to review the present status and assess the level of preparedness should a second wave of COVID-19 infections hit the state.

The state DIPR reported that DoHFW Principal Director Dr Kevichusa Medikhru who chaired the meeting, emphasized on the need for all departments to be prepared in order to combat the pandemic. He admitted that even with “ample time to prepare for the first phase of COVID-19, there had been lots of loopholes and difficulties,” and called on the officials to prepare themselves based on their previous experiences. 

State Nodal Officer for the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme Dr Nyan Kikon presented on the treatments and protocols of COVID-19 and State Immunization Officer for UIP Dr Ritu Thur gave an overview of the COVID-19 vaccination status in the state.

As per the DIPR, all Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Principal PMTI attended the meeting and the district authorities presented consolidated reports on Personal Protection Logistics, Medical Oxygen Status, Equipment Status, Logistics for COVID-19 Testing: Consumables, Logistics for COVID-19 Testing: equipment and Status of Drugs, for their respective districts. The district officials also highlighted suggestion/action plans as per the 1st Phase pandemic for the course of preparedness, the DIPR report stated.
