Sub-divisional Agriculture Office and Education Office inaugurated in Seyochung Town

Inaugurating the Sub-divisional Agriculture Office and Sub-divisional Education Office in Seyochung Town on April 7, Minister for Soil & Water Conversation, Geology & Mining V. Kashiho Sangtam said, “It is a red letter day and a new beginning for the people under Seyochung sub-division.”
Addressing the mammoth gathering, the Minister was of the opinion that development deficit has evaded Seyochung Town ADC HQ and there are three premises upon which development rest which is Health, Education and Road. “If these three issues are addressed, the potential of human resources can be tap to the maximum,” he stated.
With the large portion of farmers population engaged in jhum cultivation, the Minister suggested that the Department of Agriculture to extend scientific technical know-how to farmers for better harvest and to avoid large scale destruction of forest. “If better farming technique is adopted by preserving rich forest bio-diversity forest, climate change can be avoided to some extent,” he added.
Also speaking after inaugurating the Sub-divisional Education Office, he said, “civilization and education is inextricably linked therefore the need is to provide quality education.”
Maintaining that quality of education is deteriorating, he called for doing away with the culture of teacher’s attachment. He added that he will not hesitate to take action if any teachers are found attach within Kiphire district. He remarked, “Teachers job is to teach students.”
The Minister asked the gathering to extend full support and co-operation towards the department so that the department concerned can work for the welfare of the people.
Giving a brief departmental report, N. Henry Zeliang, Additional Director Agricultural said it was a long felt need of the department and this was made possible only because of the implementation of cadre review in the department.
The report stated that with the opening of Agri Office, farmers can avail latest technologies in farming and seek assistance from the department. R. Ekonthung Lotha, Deputy Director School education said, the purpose of expansion of Office is to facilitate better quality education. The programme was chaired by Nchumbemo ADC Seyochung Town, and vote of thanks was delivered by R. Santsu Kithan DAO Kiphire.
