Participants and resource persons of the training of ANM/CHOs on HIV and Syphilis at Phek.

Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): An induction training of Auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and Community Health Officers (CHOs) on HIV and syphilis screening was organised and conducted by Basic Service Division, Nagaland State AIDs Control Society from October 6 to 8 in Kiphire and Phek districts.
Resource persons for the trainings included Dr M Nukshisangla Jamir, Deputy Director NSACS, Dr Puleno Kennao, Project Officer, SHARE INDIA, Vikehiel Thapo, Consultant, SHARE INDIA and Lab Technicians of ICTC, Phek and Kiphire, a press release from the NSACS informed on Wednesday.
The objective of this training was to capacitate the nurses on HIV and syphilis testing and provide services to all pregnant women and the general population at the grassroots level, the release stated.
During the training, the nurses were imparted information on the importance of early testing, linkage and treatment through ‘Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission’ (PPTCT) services and Community based Screening (CBS). Hands-on training on Whole Blood Finger Prick Test on HIV and syphillis testing was also demonstrated to the trainees, the release stated.
Altogether 49 nurses from Phek and 21 from Kiphire district attended the training.
