Kohima, August 7 (MExN): The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Nagaland, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, is currently underway across the state, with dedicated help desks and capacity-building programmes being rolled out to ensure a smooth exercise, Chief Electoral Officer Bhagyashree Banayat said on Saturday.

As part of the preparatory activities, SIR Help Desks staffed with trained personnel have been established in all District Election Offices, along with designated helpline numbers, to assist citizens with enrolment, deletion, and correction of entries. The contact details are available on the CEO’s official website (https://ceo.nagaland.gov.in), while a toll-free helpline – 1950 – has also been activated for public queries and assistance.

Banayat has convened a series of review meetings and training sessions for District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), representatives of recognised political parties, and other key stakeholders to align them with the revision timeline and procedural guidelines. Similarly, DEOs are conducting district-level training for Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors, BLOs, and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to strengthen ground-level implementation.

Regular review meetings, interactions, and real-time monitoring of the revision’s progress will continue at all administrative levels to ensure effective and timely completion of the SIR, the CEO added in a statement. The revision aims to update the electoral roll with maximum accuracy and inclusiveness ahead of future electoral events in the state.
